Heated in Air at 300C for 1 Hour
- Samples can be heated in air directly on a ceramic topped hot-plate for 1 hour to dry the surface by driving off water or various solvents.
- This heating process will oxidize various metals to some various degrees forming metal oxide layers
- This method usually produces a 20+ nm thick layer of the thermodynamically stable metal oxide
- Ceramics are not usually affected by this heating. The heat will expell adsorbed water producing a cleaner surface.
